Why doesn't Directv have ABC or TNT?

Im at someones house and I want to watch the basketball games, but they have all the regular channels except TNT, ESPN and ABC. I never use Directv so I think is that Im doing something wrong, because these are basic channels. I went thru every channel 3-4 times.

DIrecTV does have ABC, its chanel 6 and Im sure it has TNT i think it was in 240s or something
