Why is my DirecTV HD receiver not working?

• I just got an upgrade to a DirecTV HD receiver in my room, so I started messing with it for a minute and decided that I want to play my PS3. When I changed back to the TV setting, the screen was all fuzzy! This is what I did: *Turn on TV *Change channels *Search for a show (Didn't find it) *Watched for a minute *I live with my grandparents, who had the upgrade done, and they said that the remote could control the receiver and the TV, so I tried to change the TV to AV1 by pressing the TV Input button on the DirecTV remote *I tried that a few times, nothing happened *I moved the switch on the top of the remote to the AV1 setting and pressed either the PWR or TV Input button. I changed the TV to AV1 with the TV remote and tried the PWR button and the TV Input button on the DirecTV remote

  snowy screen is usually tv on wrong channel, the tv input key probably isnt set on the dtv remote as u have to use an extra code for it, make sure power light is lit up on the receiver, the input of tv depends on cable type, if using hdmi cable, tv should have a hdmi input channel, component is next possible for hd tv, if using rca cables then it is usually tagged as av or video though using rca cables for hd box is pointless cause it wont be in hd
