How do you get rid of the black box for the digital converter?

I'm getting rid of my satellite & going to get Netflix & a Roku box. Do I need a digital converter?

  • All my TVs are analog. I know, time to enter the new millenium...I'm not quite ready yet. Do I have to buy a digital converter to get regular TV? If so, which one gets the best reception?

  • Answer:

One has nothing to do with the other. The Roku will convert everything it streams to your TV. It does not connect to an antenna, cable, satellite, You will need a converter box to watch tv stations in your area.

if the area where you live has migrated to digital broadcasting, yes, you'll need a converter if your tv doesn't have a digital tuner. The tuner hooks up between the tv and the antenna. See link below for information about antennas and lots of other information related to OTA tv reception.

A digital converter will allow you to get over the air TV. Probably more stations than you could before the switchover. If you are only going to do Netflix and Roku (they offer way more then netflix) Some Roku's have an analog out port so if your TV can take red/white and yellow in cables, you are set. You will need it to have internet access.
