Are DVD recorders as reliable as VCR's?

For dvd recorders, which kind of cds are best for recording?(dvd-r, dvd+r)?

  • i have a dvd recorder and i recorded on a dvd-r 1-8x speed and it only plays on my dvd recorder(not other dvd players or my comp)my friend gave me a dvd he recorded on a dvd-r 4x and it plays on everything.does anyone know why this might be and also any suggestions on what cds are most compatable with most dvd players, computers etc.(like dvd-r dvd+r)thanks

  • Answer:

on a computer you need to record based on what type of recorder it is. Mine can only use -r so make sure you use the right type for the recorder. I prefer +r but I just find that these don't skip as easy. Alot of times you have to make sure you are using a player that plays recorded dvd's or it doesn't matter what type you use they won't play.
