Can you record things from a DVR to a disc?

Question about a DVR?

  • I bought a Pioneer Surround Sound System that came with a Pioneer DVD Recorder that uses DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. I've had it about 2 years and I haven't had any problems until last night. I set it up to record something on TV, and it started, but it's like it paused itself after recording one second of the program. I thought it was a bad disc, so I switched discs, and now it says every disc I put in is unreadable. I only have DVD- discs. I have tried cleaning it, and trying other discs (Sony Discs, TDK Discs, etc.) as well as DVD's that have movies on them. After I cleaned it, any disc I put in, the DVR would do one of two things: either spit the disc back out, or begin to Initialize it and then it would lock up. Is there anyway to fix it or should I just get a new one? And if I get a new DVR, will that work with my Pioneer surround sound system?

  • Answer:

could be your laser optical reader..You say you have used the same discs you used in the past??..Heres what I do..Open the darn thing up..Its broke already,right..what are you gonna do..make it worse??..Open, look where the laser reader is, see if there is a set screw to adjust and tweak it a bit..could be out of line..has worked countless times for me in the field.
