Why are many of the same DVD's sold on Amazon.co.uk's website for signifcantly cheaper than the USA's Amazon?

have noticed that many of the dvds are signicantly cheaper on the UK verison of Amazon than that of the USA.. why is this? and if buy a region free dvd player (which i think most are as cheap as regular dvd players) that you can order from the UK website and save signifcant money there? how this is possible or not and is delivery same or not? time and quality wise? why the USA amazon company charges so much and can ask them for compensation since overchareged on USA site? please epxlain whatyou can thanks fo ryour answers!

Movie studios can sell the DVDs at different rates in each country. For example, most likely the same movie in China will be much cheaper than the same movie in Europe. That's why they have region codes. Same applies to ALL merchandise. If you add the difference in exchange rate and shipping costs, you probably don't save much.

Pounds are worth much more than dollars and the shipping will be very expensive and take much longer. If I were you I'd just buy the DVDs used from the Amazon marketplace.

It probably has to do with the fact that the pound is stronger than the dollar. But unfortunately I cannot explain myself any further, I know way too little.
