  • Answer:

Connect the VCR to either the AV input or a scart socket. Turn on the DVD recorder, select the channel that correspods to the input, press play on the VCR, then record on the DVDR

Not usually, the copy protection usually stops you turning both on together. You have to have a transformer box between the DVD and th VCR. I am assuming you want to copy old pre-recorded tapes not home shot. If you want to copy home shot tapes its usually straight forward.

There is a piece of software including leads and a small capture device called 'honestech' VHS to DVD 2.0 deluxe. Available in COSTCO for about £45. Should do the trick and you can get brownie point sfrom your friends as you could do theirs too, for a price perhaps?

Even if your DVD Recorder will accept a VCR signal, you may not be able to playback the DVD on another player. My recorder locks the Disc to only play in my player somehow! The best way, is to get a little unit from Pinnacle. Its available through PC World. Connect your VCR to the box, which is USB connected to your PC. Do it all on the PC, you can even edit your shots etc digitally before burning a copy.
