What's the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R?

Dvd format problem -rw or +rw?

  • whats the difference between dvd-rw and dvd+rw i cant seem to get my recorder to accept dvd-rw it says no disc found,recorder is philips dvdr 980

    I had to ask that same question myself, to a fella on the market were i live , and he said the best way he could answer that question,was to say it was about the same as the difference between VHS & Beata max. just 2 different formats. Not sure if that helps or not , hope it does . Kev

-rw does not support VR recording mode natively , which is the recording mode stand alone recorders use, stick to DVD+RW
