Do you think I can just get an upgraded HD-DVR box from my cable company?

I know when I got this box I essentially "rented" it. TV was provided by my apartment and I paid an additional 20$ for the HD-DVR box and 15$ a month for the HD channels. However, I got this box like 2 years ago. Do you think I can just call them up and ask, "is there an upgraded box I can get?".
