Is it possible to dub onto a DVD recorder?

Dvd recorder questions:?

  • I just got the bzv420mw8 magnavox dvd recorder and I have a couple of questions about it.. Once you've recorded onto part of a dvd, can you come back later and add to it? Like, if I wanted to record this weeks episode of Nip/Tuck, could I come back next week and record onto the same disc where the previous episode ended? Also, I'm confused about the different kinds of DVDs it uses.. what are the differences? What speed or length do I have to record in in order for my other dvd players to recognize it? I want to dub my moms old home movies for her so she can have them on DVD but I'm afraid they won't play once she puts them in her own dvd player :/ Thanks in advance for any help..

  • Answer:

When you use your recorder you will use either a dvd-r or a dvd-rw. The dvd-rw can be used again and again for recording. I don't know the difference between a dvd-r- and dvd-r+ and dvd-rw- and dvd-rw+, I just use what they recommend. I do purchase good quality dvd-rw and dvd-r. The slower the speed the better quality of the recording. I just experimented with coping my old vhs to dvd, usually the finished dvd will play on all the newer dvd's.

if you do not finalize the disc you should be able to record a second program a week later. there are 4 commonly used dvd discs....dvd+r,dvd+rw,dvd-r and dvd-rw....i recommend dvd+r. as for the home movies you are free to choose any speed...they all play
