How do I use HD cable with regular TiVo on 1080p hdtv?
-
I have a regular TiVo Series 2 box, with comcast HD. I was wondering how to best set this up. I dont know if you can put the HD cable to the TV & out A/V to the TiVo, or what. PLEASE DO NOT tell me to just get an HD TiVo, we've already spent more than enough getting a 50" 1080p TV with the service. Thanks.

Answer:
The reality is you can't record HD stations with your Tivo. Your Tivo only supports SDTV because it doesn't have an HD tuner, plus can only output s-video. You need HDMI or component to output HD. If you want to record HD, you have two options: 1) Buy a Tivo Series3 HD. 2) Rent Comcast HD DVR. Only $5 extra a month. With your Tivo, you are stuck being able to record only SD stations. Connect your Tivo to your cable box via s-video. Connect the Coax to your cable box. That should allow you to record shows and watch HD on your Tv.
