How do I get recorded shows on your computer?

DVR Box - how to get recorded shows onto my computer???

  • I just got a Motorola DVR Box from my Time Warner Cable company in Southern California. I have some shows that I have recorded on the hard drive that I would like to transfer to my computer. I noticed the box has some firewire and USB ports, and was wondering if those can be used to transfer the videos...and if so, how? I DID try plugging in a IEEE (firewire) cable to the back and connecting it to my laptop, but it didn't show up when I tried to capture anything...although it did recognized the box for a few seconds. Any help would be great. Details are appreciated.

I've been wanting to do this also....I love recording Movies from Pay-Per View, and this would be awesome to copy them...Thanks for asking the question! My guess is that there is some software that will "dump" the recorded MPEG's or whatever video formats they are to the computer.....I REALLY doubt that Dish DVR boxes are like a "Portable Storage Device" with drag-and-drop capabilities....
