Does the DSi's firmware update automatically?

DVR firmware Update screws up machine, can I undo?

  • I have a Panasonic DMR-E80H that worked for a long time. Then I read about this firmware update from the Panasonic website and decided to download it and follow the instructions. Now the machine can't read blank disks or any DVDs previously made by this machine. I called up Panasonic and they said to send it to a service station but the service stations told me to call up Panasonic. Panasonic later gave me a firmware update CD that didn't fix anything at all. Is there anyway that I can just undo the firmware update to how it was before?

  • Answer:

Unless you can get ahold of an older version of the "firmware update" somewhere, assuming that it ever existed, then you're probably out of luck. Firmware updates for ANY device are usually recommended ONLY when the update is supposed to fix a known problem that you're having. Otherwise, leave well enough alone, because the situation you're in isn't uncommon, unfortunately.

I have a CD burner that had similar troubles. I installed some firmware and suddenly it stops working. I would just buy another one. You'll save more money just buying a new one than having your machine fixed. It's not worth it anymore. There are newer models out there with some nicer features. My million dollar advice would be to not install anymore firmware, no matter what device you have. Firmware has never worked for me... ever!
