How do you record from sky to dvd recorder?

Can I record Sky TV with a DVD/Video recorder?

  • I have just bought a very expensive Toshiba DVD/video/HDD recorder alosng with a brand new TV. I also have Sky. Everything is connected OK - it has been checked but I can't recored Sky. Can you recored from the Sky box/sattelite or does all recording have to come from the ariel ie, terrestrial? I live in the country and the TV pics are rubbish unless watching through the Sky dish. Please help...

  • Answer:

You can record from Sky. Run a scart cable from the Sky box to your video/DVD/HDD Recorder and record on your Auxiliary (AU) Channel on the machine.

Make sure Sky box is connected to 2nd scart on recorder, probably marked 'cbl/sat/aux' When you want to record Sky, set recorder's input to this scart, probably marked 'AV or input', otherwise it'll just record through it's ariel input. Home entertainment systems can be a pain to set up properly. My system looks like spaghetti junction behind the telly. If all else fails, you could admit defeat & try deciphering the instruction books!
