Is there a DVR for over the air TV?

Off the air tv recording?

  • I am using a regular antenna to watch off the air local TV programming. Does a device similar to a DVR exist for off the air TV programming?

  • Answer:

(This answer assumes you are located in North America) There are several ways to do this: 1. You can buy a DVR with an over the air tuner, their are several current models. I use an old analog Tivo* (with lifetime service) that controls a converter box. 2. If you have a resent vintage computer you can add a TV tuner to it and use it as a DVR. 3. You can use a converter box with any old analog OTA recorder (VCR, etc) * The only analog Tivos that can control a converter box are the Series 2 with single tuners.
