What is the best TV tuner card now on the market?

Will you help me pick a tv tuner?

  • I have a laptop that I am positive has what it needs inside of it to run any tv tuner on the market. I am not interested in HD, due to the fact I don't think I have it offered to me in the dorm. I want to be able to record shows and have the normal pause, rewind, fast forward capabilities. I want to be able to put reruns of old shows on dvd. I need USB, can't put card in laptop. I hear Hauppauge (spelling?) is the best. What do you think?

  • Answer:

I've heard mixed reviews about the Hauppauge USB products but the majority are good. Just food for thought, I actually found a tuner card that's PCMCIA which I didn't know existed. Your laptop probably has a PCMCIA port and it's probably more efficient than USB. It's also compatible with Windows Media Center Edition. It's called AVerMedia MTVCBMCER http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815100010 The Hauppauge is probably the most common it appears: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116624 Good luck!
