How to set DVR for dish network?

I would like to set my Dish Network's DVR to my home network. Is there a way I can do that?

  • Im thinking to get the new storage enabled routers where you can plug in hard drives. This way it would allow me to store all audio/video in one central location that I can retrieve anywhere from my house. Anyone know if the DVR can be hooked on to the network?

  • Answer:

I have not heard of this being possible yet. I know for a fact that MOST DVR's ( Except Tivo and Modified DirecTV Tivo's)do NOT have any way of connecting to a Homes network at this time. The USB ports are NOT activated. I have some info on Comcast DVR made by Motorola being able to connect to your PC through the firewire ports. I believe Dish is in the Testing phase with Tivo to start using the Tivo service since DirecTV dropped Tivo. Since Tivo has won in court on the way most DVR's function is why Dish's DVR's do not record two channels at the same time. You can check out this site for any new info on DVR modifying/ upgrading though. http://www.dvrplayground.com Most of their forums are/were for Tivo and DirecTV Tivo modifying but they have sections about upgrading Other DVR's. I hope this helps you out..
