Is there a dvr you can buy from a store like a tivo that records channels in hd without a subscription?

I dont want tivo because of the subscription and i dont want a dvr from my cable company im not looking to make tivo or my cable compaany rich since they are all ready rich i feel a dvr should be standard with your cable top box but i know there in the business of making money. So anyhow is there a dvr youd recommend to buy that records in full hd ? I have a dvr i love but its an older one and does not record in hd just sd.
