How do you update firmware?
-
I have a LiteOn dvd-vcr player, model LVC-9015G. I need to update the firmware, but I don't know how to do it. I visited the web site and downloaded the update, but what now? There is a firewire port on the player, so I am assuming it goes through there, but that is all that I think I know. Thoughts?

Answer:
You have to extract the files from the firmware update archive file, burn an ISO image of the files to a CD, and then put in the player. See the instructions at the link. There are also a couple of FAQs on the lite-on site regarding firmware updates. The one critical precaution about firmware updates is, once started let the process go to completion, being careful not to turn off or interrupt power. The device can become unusable if interrupted in mid process.
