What is wrong with my DVR?

What the heck is wrong with my DVR?

  • I'm getting sick of it, here's what the problem is and i think its getting worse. A lot of the things I record, when I'll be watching them all of a sudden it will go to a black screen and then turn off. I thought the problem was that I had too much stuff on there recorded so today I deleted all but two things went to watch one that was left and this one didn't even come on at all, all I got was a black screen when I tried to watch it. Is there a way to fix this without calling directv?

  • Answer:

My guess is that it is probably over heating, make sure that the DVR has good airflow, setting the TV on top of it is not good airflow. When you are just watching normal TV does it do the same thing? If it does then you might be having a cabling issue and the SNR is not strong enough. I would think that Direct TV would replace it for free if the DVR is going bad, but I use cable DVR so you never know. Good luck

It is probably over heating. Does it have enough air flow around it, or is it stuck in your underwear drawer?

did you keep the tv on? or maybe if you made sure that everything was plugged in right, or you might need a new cable box.

Maybe it need cleaning, but in my opinion you should let your direct TV company do their jobs and good luck.
