Problems with tivo server and tivo desktop?

• Transferring shows from my tivo series 2 to my computer used to work all the time. Now my tivo doesn't connect to the internet using the DHCP server as it used to and I have to either give it a static IP address or let it sign itself an IP address. Also, the tivo server won't work on my computer. I have tivo desktop 2.5 and there is an x on the tivo server icon in the tax bar. When I put my mouse over it, it says "Tivo Desktop: No Server" and if i right click it and click restart server, it says "an internal error has occurred". I've tried uninstalling and re-installing numerous times, and i even tried installing previous versions, yet none of those work either. I also tried putting in the media access key again. What should I do? Also sometimes when I click "Pick Recordings to Transfer" it says at the top something like "one of the library files needed to run this application could not be found" or it says "There was an error while attempting to retrieve data from the selected DVR."

  I am not positive about your situation but I had somewhat the same kind of issue going on with my 5 Hacked DirecTV Tivo's. They kept losing the IP address that I know they were at. So when I tried to connect to the D Tivo via Internet Explorer or via other ways I could connect my Tivo for transfering shows/movies like TyTools 10r4 which has to connect to the IP address of the D Tivo i want to transfer from. FYI I have a HACKED DirecTV Tivo and can use Tivo Desktop ONLY for connecting my PC to the Tivo for my MP3 and Pictures on my PC. Hacked DirecTV units CANNOT use Tivo Desktop to transfer any of the shows/movies. Here is a link to how someone else helped me get this fixed so I had STATIC DHCP so the Internal IP address for ALL my PCs and D Tivo's would ALWAYS stay at the same IP address. STATIC DHCP is safer than setting your Tivo to ONLY a STATIc IP Address. Because if you have a issue with the Tivo you7 may never be able to get access via the IP address without connecting to the Tivo via aSerial Cable.
