How do I program my Time Warner remote to my Emerson TV?

PLEASE HELP, how do I program or sync my Time Warner Cable universal remote to cable?

  • I've tried 6 different things and nothing works. I have a Samsung television and a Scientific Atlanta Explorer Time Warner Cable box. They are on and worked before, our Time Warner Cable remote had broken so now we have a new one* and need to sync it to the cable box. How do I do this? * UR5U-8780L-TWNC ^ Which looks like this: http://www.universalremote.com/resources/software/tutorial/UR5U-8700-Series.htm This site is the exact copy of the operating instructions the remote came with. Youtube videos just talk about syncing the TV device button, but before we did CBL (cable). I already tried the (Step 1:) simultaneous pressing of CBL and OK/SEL (select) button and then (Step 2:) the Set-Up Code Number for the cable box brand (Scientific Atlanta) and then (Step 3:) CBL again - it does the blinking twice but still no button works afterwards which is always the case no matter what method I use. Other methods tried: The programming channel control or volume control Set-Up Code Number for the Samsung television (pressing TV instead of CBL of course) etc. Nothing works. Am I missing something?

  • Answer:

What you are probably missing is there is often more than one remote code number for a vendor. You have to try them all. If you've tried all the ones listed, then you can try the "cycle through them all" method.
