Does anybody know that if a TV bought in Canada would work in the UK ? Would Signal Work?

  • Can anybody tell me please if a Large Screen HITACHI TV bought in Canad would work in the UK with an Adaptor? As I have been told I should sell it because it will not give me a Signal in the UK is this True? Hope someone can help. Many Thanks

  • Answer:

No chance AT ALL!! UK uses PAL Tv system,240 volts @50HZ Canada uses NTSC TV systen 120 volts @60hz You could correct the voltage with an adaptor but not the fequency, or signal type.

Canada uses NTSC and the UK uses PAL... they are not compatible. So, unless you get a PAL to NTSC converter, your TV won't work in any part of Europe. Trust me, you might as well avoid the headaches and buy a European television.

No it would not work, as the voltage is completely different in the UK and also the radio/television signals are totally different. You would need a transformer to beable to plug your TV into an outlet. Better to leave your Tv in Canada and buy one when you get there.
