What is a good brand and model for a DVD Recorder?

    I have just researched this and bought the LG model no. DR1F9H. It upconverts to HD via an HDMI cable, handles almost all DVD formats, is easy to use and is currently on sale at Best Buy. It normally sales for $225.00 but is currently listed at $169.00 at BestBuy.com. Did I also mention that it has a built in 14 in 1 media card reader.

I own a Philips DVD recorder and have had many problems with both recording my own DVD and also playback of regular retail DVDs that you would buy at any store. Avoid, avoid, avoid. The Panasonics are of decent quality and have very good prices; beware, though, that some 2005 models have bad calendars for 2006 recordings. For example, it thinks December 13, 2006 is a Tuesday when it's really a Wednesday. Fortunately, the calendar is corrected for 2007 and all subsequent years. If you see a brand you've never seen or can't pronounce, then still avoid, avoid, avoid.

I've had good experience with the Panasonic DMR-ES10. Once you get used to the interface it works well, plus it has three sets of inputs.
