What is wrong with my DVR?

What is wrong with my Dual DVR/VCR combo?

  • I know, I know I should just throw it out and get a new one--which is exactly what I did--get a new one. But luckily I didn't throw the old one out yet when I discovered I could not play 11 of the DVDs I burned on the broken one because I didn't finalize them first when I filled the disc! Now I'd like to repair the old one, if only good enough to finalize the dvds, so I can play them on my new player. Company says I am screwed because I can only play them on the old player so now I would like to repair it--hopefully myself. It would not be very cost effective to have a repairman do it--the price of recorders so inexpensive now. But I don't want to lose those 11 DVDs! Help! Here's the problem: I turn it on and after about 5 seconds it simply just stops. Nothing. Will not stay on. What parts do you think I need and could I put it in myself?

  • Answer:
