What's the difference in DVD recordable discs?

Recordable dvd's ????

  • My partner got a recordable dvd player for christmas, when he went to buy the discs for it he found DVD-R and DVD+R. Does anyone know the difference between them? (apart from the minus and plus).

  • Answer:

There is not a lot of difference.Do you know that with a DVD-R or a DVD+R you can only record once on the disc and that's it.If you want to keep using the discs you need DVD+RW instead.Click the link for cheap places to get them from because at places like PC world etc they are quite expensive. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dvd%2Brw&x=0&y=0

Originally some players used one or the other. Nowadays the players take both. Just look on the player itself (usually on the DVD cover)

Yes - one will work - the other won't. Unless you have a DVD that accepts both minus and plus types. However, most PC's use the PLUS ones. So if you are burning your own DVDs on your PC - use the PLUS ones.

Check the documentation for the device to be sure it can use any type of disk.
