Does Magic Jack work with DirecTV or Dish Network?

Does Magic Jack work with Directv or Dish Network to dial up for television programming information?

  • I'd like to dump my dial line but need it for Dish Network so it can update my system with new television programming information. Does anyone successfully use Magic Jack to allow their Dish receiver to dial up for this information?

    NO....the Magic Jack will not work with Satellite... DirecTV or Dish....it says right so on there MJ website!

Typically, satellite based Internet is not recommended for any VoIP phone service. The reason is because of the signal latency delays encountered by satellite signals. You would have to take turns talking, like two way radio, otherwise you will be talking on top of each other because of the signal delays. It is possible to do, but most people would find it annoying to use over satellite link. For best VoIP results, you need a high-speed DSL or Cable Internet service.

Your Dish Network receiver will work with VOIP phones if you change the dial out pre-fix in the menu to allow internet phones. Only question is will Magic Jack Work
