I need a perfect watch for a nurse.

I need some major help in the best/cheapest way to record a TV on one channel while I watch 1 live on another?

  • The site I have always relied on to download my TV shows that I did not have time to watch, or TV shows that came on at the same time as another TV show, has finally been shut down. I should have seen it coming. It was the last of its kind left still standing. (Goodbye Mininova. You will be sorely missed....) I know it is pathetic, but since I have no social life, my extra curricular time is spent watching my favorite TV shows. Now I can not do this. I do not ever want to be locked in to having to watch my TV shows if I am too tired or busy, but I have narrowed down my TV watching so that is not usually a big deal anymore. However, the main problem is when 2 of my favorite TV shows come on at the same time but on different channels. I can not bear to have to stop watching one of my few favorite TV shows. So my question to you is what is the cheapest, but best solution for me. I do not know much about online streaming. Or satellite TV on your computer. I have no problem watching TV on my computer, especially now that I know how to hook my laptop up to my TV. But it does me no good to only be able to watch LIVE TV on my computer. I need to be able to watch something hours or even days after it has aired. So I do not know if I need a digital recorder or a Tivo or what. But I know that if there is no software that will allow me to watch TV on my computer after it has aired, then I need something that will allow me to record a TV show on one channel while I watch a live TV show on a different channel. Is that even possible? If you can point me in the right direction this would be much appreciated.......

Yes it is possible Shelby. The only way i know to do it is a DVR box which u can record 2 shows at once and some of them u can record 3 at once.I have a DVR from comcast which is a dual tuner which means i can record 2 different shows at one time without watching but if i record two shows at once while watching i have to watch one of the ones recording. So i can watch one of my favorite shows while i am recording my other favorite show at the same time. The only other thing u can do is get tivo but i dont know much about tivo. With comcast they will rent u the box per month or u can go out and buy a DVR box but i think they r around 300 dollars.I hope this helps.

You can get dual tuner cards for your computer that can record from antenna. Sometimes you can use two cards to record 4 channels, if your computer has enough processing capability. You can probably get a dual tuner card for around $100. You should also invest another $100 or so in a good antenna system, less if you are lucky. Avoid the "Satellite TV on PC" deals. They are always scams. A TiVo would be an excellent solution, but will cost you quite a bit. If you want to start from square one and leave your PC alone, a TiVo HD with Product Lifetime might cost the same as a full PC. especially when you figure the long term power costs a PC uses, compared to a TiVo.
