Which Freeview box would/do you recommend?

Can anyone recommend a good Freeview box ?

  • I've heard Sony's are noisy, but how can that be as there are only electronics in that little box. I've had a 'Thompson' one since freeview was rolled out, but now want a good cheap one for bedroom.

A good budget buy is Sagem. They have high-end features, but they're light on the pocket. http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/itd59-i1192.html http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/itd62-i1505.html http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/itd64-i1193.html If you're looking for something a bit spiffier, try Panasonic. http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/tu-ct41-i800.html Just remember... if you're using an indoor aerial, get a signal booster.

Have a look at eBay there very cheap seen them go for £15 but p&p would add to that, Cash generator too quite cheap. No working digibox makes a noise(could only be a struggling power supply), so the cheapest you find will work as good as an all singing, dancing one. You can use postal orders at ebay if no bank account and can join without bank account too these things tend to put ppl of joining no worries

Dual are the best. You can get them at Asda and they have a built in hard-drive recorder so that you can record programmes from any of the freeview channels and watch them when you like :)

It despends on what feature you want. Cheap ones tend not to have interactive facilities and the limited EPG, I bought one from Lidl for around £30 and was very surprised by the number of outputs at the back: 2 SCARTs, optical, coax, video, 2 sound channels (BNC) and RS232. Works very well too.

I had a TV repair man out last week and he told me to buy any cheap model as you only want it to get the signal

I know a number of people that have freeview boxes. You can pick them up for around £30 a go and they are all pretty much the same. None of them make any noises though.
