If I cancel my Sky+ subscription will I be able to use the box to get freeview channels?
-
Had Sky for about 18 months now, paid the £99 for a Sky+ box. Have now decided I can no longer justify paying for Sky so want to get rid of it. What will happen to the box that I've paid for? I heard from someone it can be used as a freeview box if you cancel your subscription (their logic was based on the fact that if you don't pay one month, Sky cut you off, but the freeview channels remain). Is this true? Will Sky+ privileges still work (i.e. will I still be able to schedule and record programs?)

Answer:
Yes if you cancel your sky subscription you will be left wit the sky free sat channels. They are Sky's non subscription channels.

Not actually the Freeview package, but you will get a good selection of free-to-air channels. You won't be able to record any programmes, not even on the free channels. And quite annoyingly, you won't be able to watch any of the programmes you have already recorded - even though you have already paid to watch/record them.

Yes you get all the freeview channels, cancelled my sky+ 2 months ago and got them all, also have a friend who cancelled normal sky and he got freeview channels too. You won't have any of the recording features of sky+ privileges. Hope i helped

Yes you'll get some free channels, BBC1, 2, 3 & 4 Sky Three ITV1, 2, 3 & 4, And a few other channels nothing worth watching though, you can phone and subscribe to individual channels if you want, and if you pay £10 a month to sky you'll still be able to use the pause, play and record functions.

Yes you can, the frequencies are all here http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html How they are saved and how you access them are diffferent from box to box so that's as fas as I can advise you, I tuned in 50 of them last week, bbc, men & motors, ITV etc..
