How do you record VHS tapes to my computer? ?

I have some home movies on VHS and I would like to transfer it to my HP Notebook Entertainment PC so I can edit and burn then to DVD's. How would I go about that?

Answer:
You need a video connection on your computer. Easiest way to get one would probably be buy a tv tuner card.

well, first off, this may take some required work and a little bit of money spending, but not too much. 1) If you have about 70 to 80 bucks to spend, go to best buy or somewhere that has a dvd/vhs player built into one and make sure it has dvd record. 2)Put the vhs in along with a blank recording dvd. You can buy the recording dvd disks at places that sell blank audio cds and stuff like electronics.3)record the vhs onto the blank dvd and vualah. 4) Put the dvd that you recorded the vhs onto and insert it into the com and you know the rest. I hope this was not too confusing. If you need assistance with this, just ask a person that works at a store that you would go to to get the dvd/vhs player with dvd recording. Feel free to email me if you want.

This is what I have and it works wonderfully! You have the option of creating an instant DVD or downloading the content of your VHS home movies to your computer's hard drive. Either way works very well. I have the unit and I use the unit. I do not hesitate one bit to recommend it. I hope you can get it. I know you'll love it. I bought mine at Circuit City. http://pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/Dazzle+Video+Archiving/Dazzle+Video+Creator+Plus.htm

Send your tapes to StashSpace to be digitized for just $7 tape and get them backed up online. You can get the footage direct onto DVD, edit with their online editor or get the files back on portable hard drive. Check them out at http://www.stashspace.com

Hook your VCR out to the a/v input on your PC. You'll need some sort of video capture software (Nero, e.g.). Start recording on the PC and push play on the VCR.
