My dvd ram disc says you can only playback a recorded program on a compatible player,but doesnt what is compat

on a compatible player. my dvd player is panasonic and it will playback on it but wont playback on another brand. how come?

Simply put DVD-RAM is like having an optical hard disk. They can only be read by a player designed to read that format. Companies that make DVRs that record to DVD-RAM usually make stand alone players to play them. All my computers have DVD-RAM drives. I can watch DVD-RAM recordings made with my DVR or I also use the double-sided DVD-RAM cartridges in place of a tape backup system.
