What is difference between MKV and MP4?

MKV to MP4 not working....help please?

  • Ok I've been desperately trying to get the hurt locker on my computer cause it's my favorite movie right now and I've been downloading off pirate bay blu-ray versions and when I convert them from the mkv to mp4 (using handbrake as the converter) it doesnt work. When I click it it says it's not a movie file when clearly it is because its a mp4. In the past I've converted high res files from mkv to mp4 using handbrake and getting them from pirate bay and it's worked splendidly. anyone have suggestions?

You need an MP4 codec so that your converter would recognize that kind of file. Try downloading "real alternative" and "quicktime alternative" and install it on your PC. After installing them, all kinds of video and music codec will be installed on your PC and you'll be able to play majority of music and video formats on your PC. Some video converters do require the installation of a certain codec so that your file could be converted properly. Also, try to check if your converter supports the type of file you want to convert. If the file does not convert even after installing "real alternative" and "quicktime alternative", you should replace your video converter with a better one. You could also try to play the file to see if it's a corrupted file or not.

Try reinstall handbrake or change another software. I am using RZ Video Converter which can convert any videos or audios between different formats, such as convert mkv to mp4,etc. You can have a try by yourself. yahoo or google searach and download rz video converter. Hope it can help you.
