How do you unlock channels on freeview?

Freeview only picking up BBC channels?

  • For christmas i got a new Grundig television, with integrated freeview and dvd. Today i plugged it all in, followed all the instructions, did the channel scan and ended up with only BBC channels. We have 4 televisions in the house. One has integrated freeview and picks up all the channels, one has a freeview box and picks up all the channels, and one has BT Vision and picks up all the channels. Why isn't mine working? Is it because it is new? The aerial is a wall socket. I also have a VCR plugged into my television, and a PS2.

  • Answer:

Retune again - don't plug in VCR or PS2. only do this after the retune.

I had a similar problem where the bedroom TV would not work for 3, 4, 5, more4 etc - in fact the commercial channels. I changed the long cable I had made up myself for one already made up with sealed plugs and that did the trick. It was as if the BBC channels didn't mind the connections being a bit dodgy and "home made" whereas the ITV ones started pixillating and breaking up. No one called you names. I don't know why you put this in your question. Hope you get things sorted.

cheap skate should of got better tv you fool try another digital box if same its aerial/socket/cable? if not its the tv simple

GOD

Scan it with out the VCR And do it when the others TV are not in use. This is so you get a full signal.

MICHAEL D

It sounds like your signal might not be good enough. Give it another scan.

James

Try retuning it. For a time I didn't get ITV or C4 (but that was with an indoor aerial).

Mike

retune it

Disconnect the other TV and Freeview box from their aerial sockets, then try to re-tune your new TV. If that works, then you will need a signal booster. This is because you are splitting the signal too many times (into 3 receivers), and it's too weak for all three TVs to get good reception. If it doesn't work, plug the new TV into a different aerial socket. If that works, then the original socket is faulty. If that still doesn't work, then the TV is faulty.

Nightwrath

As said retune it again. If it doesn't pick up all the Freeview channels it must be faulty so return it to the retailer.
