Can I use a DVR with DirecTV?

Comcast DVR sucks. Is there any way I can use my Directv Tivo on Comcast?

  Unfortunately, no, you can't use your DirecTV TiVo with Comcast. To get updates on your DirecTV TiVo, you have to have a DirecTV subscription and the updates are sent by satellite, rather than over the phone line. The one I have records HD and has dual tuners. To watch one show while recording another, you have to "Swap" pictures or channels. (See the remote control). To set up a subscription for SVU, you'll have to use the "Search (magnifying glass)" menu item and enter SVU. You should be able to set up a "Record Series" recording for SVU for a particular channel. Now, if what you want is the equivalent of a Wishlist to pick up SVU no matter what channel it is on, you'll have to do a "Record Series" for each and every channel that SVU appears on that you are interested.
