DVD recommendations for Pilates and Spanish?

I need a DVD recorder. Recommendations?

  • I have home-recorded (as opposed to commercial) VHS tapes that I want to transfer to DVD. I don't want a combination DVD/VHS unit, as I have VHS machines, and I don't want to use a computer to burn the DVDs. The reviews of stand-alone DVD recorders seem to be all over the map, and of machines that have been on the market for several years. I don't need a ton of features. What I'm after is a machine that has good video and audio quality, is reliable, and makes discs that will stand the test of time. On that topic, is there a format (DVD-R, DVD+R, etc) that is longer-lived than others, or more likely to play (glitch-free) in DVD playback machines? I'm in Canada, so I need a 120-volt, NTSC-standard model.

  • Answer:

Just go buy one from a reputable retailer, of a reputable brand. They all work about the same way, and probably made by the same manufacturer, such as Funai.
