How to convert VCR tapes to DVD or VCD blank discs?

Purchased GoVideo DVD recorder from Costco 3 years ago.Can I use DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL discs to copy VCR tapes

• After I purchased the GoVideo DVD recorder from Costco, I then purchased another GoVideo DVD recorder Model VR3845 from Costco for my RV on whick I can record only on DVD+R. I believe my older DVD recorder uses only DVD-R Can I interchange them? And will DVD+R DL or DVD-0R DL record also? I do not have handy the model of the first recorder I purchased.
