Record a tv show on a vcr tape?

my tv is through satellite and it displays on video1. vcr options are played back on video 3. i have a dvd/vcr recorder (2 in one). i want to record a tv show but all im recording is static on channel 3(tv antenna). i need to record things that im watching on video1, thats what my tv channels run on. so please help and be specific.

You've said a lot, but maybe not everything....but let's try. Your tv and recorder should be on channel 3. When you push record it should show up on the tv when you are on video 3. But this will only happen if the satellite is hooked up to the DVD/vcr recorder. Otherwise, static, no signal to the recorder. This either means two different cables out of the satellite or just run coax from the satellite then to the dvd/vcr and then the tv. Try that.
