Connecting up old sky box for freesat?

Can I record HD programmes from my SKY+ HD box onto a seperate Freesat or Freeview recorder?

  • I have recently canceled my Sky subscription meaning I am now unable to use my SKY+ HD box to record programs. Is it possible to record programs from my SKY+ HD box onto an independant freeview/freesat recorder, including HD channels? I also have a TV with a built-in freeview box, is it straight forward to record programs from the built-in freeview box onto a seperate freeview recorder?

  • Answer:

No. The only outputs your sk box has is A/V our analog RF out. A Freeview/Freesat onely have digital tuners which tune and record the already digital signal from digital broadcast or satellite. You can however, use a stanalone DVD recorder to record your programmed, but in SD.
