How do you program a charter remote to work on a direct TV box?

Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to program a charter cable remote to work on direct tv? Or an older Direct Tv Rca controller to work with the newer box. My remote broke recenetly an i have no way of controlling my tv / box from afar.

I'm sure it is...you just need to know how to program the remote, which is usually done by pressing the "Sat" button, andholding it for...i dunno, 5 seconds? Until lights flash, then you type in the recievers code, then press # on the remote. Thats how my dish remote works anyways...
