Connect set top box to a pc?

Ntl set top box help?

  • i have a ntl set top box and want to use the ethernet connection to connect another pc rather than having to go buy a router and drag cables around the house, or go wireless., i have turned it off and then back on after connecting all the cables but have limited or no connectivity. why is this?? been at it all day and cant get it to work. any help appreciated.

i guess you mean that you have a virgin modem and set top box. haven't tried this myself but if the modem is dealing with their dhcp server then you wouldn't be able to use two modems at the same time (ie the one in the set top box). it might be possible to use one or the other though. would be great if you try and then let us know

Sorry I cannot really help too much with limited information, but I am thinking that the equipment is not capable with today's technology and may need to be replaced. I had cable Internet and had to replace the internal Ethernet for my computer because it was outdated and not working. You can set up a good system for around 150 bucks, even wireless Hope this helps....

Try running the network connection wizard, Run it on the host PC first then the networked PC
