How do you text from the computer?

How do I set up a PC so that txts sent to the work mobile arrive at the computer and we can text from here?

• I work for a small voluntary organisation and we want to get mobiles and use them to keep in touch with the people we work with. I know radio stations have a hook up to their computer so that listeners can text the number and it arrives at a computer, making managing the texts much easier. How would we set up something like this? And it would be much easier to send blanket texts from a computer too! How would we do this? What software/hardware would we need?

  Your are best talking to your Network provider, some phones like Nokia or Sony Ericsson use a PC Suite, this will allow you to hook a mobile to the PC over USB and using the Messaging part of the SUIT, you can send texts. Receiving them can be done via your provider with a redirection to Email. Your provider may even have an option to have a dummy number that you read and send SMS from a website just like an email.
