How to get wifi on ipod touch from mac?

I have the ipod touch 4g and i want to have wifi on it. i created a network from my mac and clicked on it from my wifi settings on my ipod. but when i tried going on safari it said that there wasnt any internet conection. how can i fix this?

If you are connected to the internet wired (ethernet) as mentioned you need a wireless router in order to setup a wireless network for any device you wish to connect wirelessly, including the iPod Touch.
