How do I set up the Internet on my Vista?

How can I set up my connection to the internet? I just buy a new lap w/ "vista" and my home connection is LAN

  • The connection provider all ready gave me the numbers to set but they do not know anything about vista jet and they send me to the store where i buy the computer and the store send me back or they said to contact HP to ask them what to do. can someone help me? thanks

  • Answer:

I haven't seen vista yet, but it should be in the control panel double click on Internet Options, then on the connections tab, then the setup button. This will guide you through. Connect to the internet, next, set up my connection manually, next, connect using a broadband connection that is always on, next, finish.

Take it back, get a Mac, plug it in. Simple, eh?

If you want to connect the laptop only to your main connection just plug your ethernet cable in and that is it working. If you have a cable and a router then you need to run "wireless network setup wizard" in your my network places on your laptop. As long as your laptop already has a wireless card installed.
