Network wireless laptop?

I cant figure out how to get the wireless network detection function for my laptop to work?

  • I reinstalled my operating system on my hp zv6000 series laptop. When I did this I installed all of the standard features including hp wireless assistant. It appears that the only function I can use with wireless assistant is turning on and off my computer’s ability to search for wireless networks, it allows me to turn whatever “WLAN” is on or off. Before I reinstalled the operating system I could search for wireless networks that were within range, it appears that this capability is gone so I can’t connect my wireless internet at home. Last time, when I initially installed the operating system on the computer I had no problems getting the wireless internet to work, I don’t know what I did or what I am forgetting now but that is what I need help with, I am missing the feature that allows you to search for wireless networks in range. I have also tried to set up a wireless connection with the wireless network setup wizard and the normal network setup wizard. Could someone please he

  • Answer:

The "search for wireless network" ability probably came from the software that came with your wireless router. Be sure to install that on top of your newly reinstalled OS.

First of all, get rid of HP Wireless Assistant. The built-in XP function works just fine. Just doubleclick on the connection button in the system tray, and it should pop up a box that shows you all the local networks you can connect to.
