How can I connect my laptop (XP) with my desktop (Windows 7)?
-
I bought a small laptop which has Windows XP on it and I'd like to connect it to my computer (which has Windows 7) so I can transfer some large files to my laptop. My internet runs off a modem and not a router so I can't connect through that way. Is it possible just to use a regular ethernet cable (the cable that connects from the modem to my desktop)?

Answer:
It's definitely doable, you need to get a cross-over cable(google it) unless it's newish computers, they do the switching itselfs. Then you need to set each computer with ip addresses, and then its possible. www.high-on-it.co.za
