  • can anybody tell me how i can connect my laptop and desktop?????i dont have any software for that if there isany software than which one and how to use it???my both computers are having windows xp

  • Answer:

There are several ways to do this. 1) Crossed Lan Cable & Installing "Netbeui" (whihc is part of Win98/ME/XP). - cost of Cable - Rs.50/- aprox. 2) Via Bluetooth adaptors. 3) or simley USB lan Cable whihc is available for Rs.300/- Hoever the whole stuff depends upon what u want to do by connecting laptop & desktop. I am answering this assuming that you want to share ur files & net.

The main thing for connection you want is hardware you will use. So, there are few possibilities, you can use network cards (suppose that both of your comps have it), wireless cards, infrared, bluetooth, even parallel or serial cable. That all depends on what you do have of this hardware and what you really need the network for. Each one of this connections has it's own limitations and capabilities, so it's all up to you to decide what you will use.

I assume that you want to use the internet on both and at the same time share your files and printing service. Based on my assumption, you need a hub and 2 ethernet cables, (depends on the availability of NIC cards in both your laptop and PC). If you are using brodband, connect your brodband ethernet cable to the hub and the same with your PC and laptop ethernet cables. Win XP should automatically detect the network connection. Dear no need to worry it realy very simple to connect the two comp. u need Lan Card installed on ur both the PC .In laptop that sould be inbuilt. and in ur desktop PC this should be inbuilt but if isn't then nadd a Lan Card . Now if u want to connect only to pc then no problem u need only 2 pair lan cable ( 4 pair can also be use ) the connection for cable must be crossed ie. Pin A Pin B > 1 3 > 2 6 > 3 1 4 4 5 5 > 6 2 7 7 8 8 " > " show inportant pin no. Now go to control pannel ---> N/w & dailup connection go to the property of Local Area Connection and then internet protocal then give IP adress(192.168.0.1 for one PC and 192.168.0.2 for other PC ) and subnetmask ( 255.255.255.0 for all PC) other information on email Email firoz@[email protected]

you dont nee any extra software.. Get an ethernet/LAN cable connect to the ethernet cards (or onboard port) in your laptop and desktop... Go to Control Panel-->Network connetions. Select Set up a home or office n/w.. Follow instructions.. Configure TCP/IP settings in both the systems.. Restart both.. Done...

both computer should have LAN card. use cross cable to connect them. give ip address of same network eg. 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 go into one computer and search for another on by entering its name.

No need of any special software just connect both the system's ethernet card by a simple twisted pair cable.Run the network setup wizard and they will be connected to share files and other purpose

It really depends on what you want to do. If you want to share files between the two, you can use a crossover cable (about 15 bucks) to connect one pc directly to another. You then would have to run the network startup wizard and set it up. Its a fairly painless process.

Hope that Your lap/desk top has ethernet/LAN card/NIC, you can find it out a little bigger telephone jack look a like stuff (Tech.Known as RJ45 Scoket) 1) Know connect both the computers with a simle Cross Over cable easly available in the market or you can build it an expert here is the PIN configuration -> 1st Cable 2nd Cable 1 3 2 6 3 1 4 4 5 5 6 1 7 7 8 8 2) Now (hope you have XP/Professional) go to My Netwok Place -> Right Click->Properties 3)Select your NIC/Lan card which is generally labled as "Local Area Connection" -> Right Click->Properties->in the box there will be seveal listing like client for computer, File and Print... Now select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) do not remove the check box ->properties-> Now there will be two radio button, if your computer has allready have an IP add, displayed under radio button as 'use following Ip add' write it down, if not then it must be selected as 'Obtain Ip add. automatically.' if So. slect ok ->ok->Close. 4)At Run ->cmd->here type Ipconfig /all you will see a number sequence like 169.254.x.x where x is a decimal no. between 0 to 255. This will be your IP add. Say this one has 169.254.70.123 5)Go to another machine -> RUN->CMD->ipconfig /all and if this machine also has same series of ip add. like 169.254.x.x. Say this one has 169.254.79.4 6)Then go to Run ->type another comp. ip add as \\169.254.70.123 and you have anothe machine's shared stuff. 7)If your machine has static ip add which is available with ipconfig /all command too, then you have to change anothers computers IP add in Same series plus 1 8) To change Ip add of another computer use step 3) and under use following Ip Address add the ip add of previous computer + 1 e.g if comp1 has ip add 192,168.0.3 then this computer can have 192.168.0.4 type subnet mask same as other computers' at appropriate palce ( not by adding one) and save it by OK->Ok->Close. 9)now at run type \\and another computers Ip add e.g \\192.168.0.4 and you have it know
