Xbox Live Connection Problem?

Xbox live Connection Problem?

  • Every time I am in the middle of a game, any game, and anyone in my family goes on their computer, phone, etc, it disconnects me and I lose what I am doing. I have a wireless connection that we all share and I was thinking if I put my own modem in my room and directly hooked this up to the xbox with ethernet cables, would solve my problem? Also im not sure if you can directly link an xbox to a modem and if not, would I have to get a router?

  • Answer:

Most wireless routers have a built in 4 port hub. Any chance of connecting directly to the router, to see if that helps. The other option is to set up qos on the router. Most newer router support some form of qos. You would be able to prioritize traffic from your xbox over these other devices. Keep in mind if you prioritizes over the voice traffic this could cause problems for your phone calls. To answer your question regarding directly connecting the xbox, yes you can attach your xbox directly to the modems ethernet port with out using a router. You will have to order another ISP connection with monthly charges.
