How can I install MSN on Linux?

I'm trying to download skype with linux why won't it work?

  • I'm trying to download skype on my laptop. It will download but when I go to install it, it doesn't work. It just say "Error". I have Linux Ubuntu and just want skype messenger because msn isn't compatible :( Please help!

First of all, you don't need MSN Messenger to use MSN Messenger. Empathy and Pidgin are two IM programs that can communicate with just about any IM client you need- MSN, Yahoo, Google Chat, Facebook, MySpace, Skype, SIP, and more. Second, are you using the right Skype installer? Did you download the 32-bit Ubuntu installer if you have 32-bit Ubuntu or the 64-bit installer if you have a 64-bit OS?

Go to your main menu and open the program called synaptic package manager. Use the search function and look for skype and also amsn (a msn clone). After you install them with synaptic check your menu to click on the menu item to start them Good luck

It would probably be best to ask this in a linux forum, or look on the skype website for support. I presume you are downloading the linux version. Have you tried using the software centre? It simplifies downloading and installing in linux, and skype is probably in there.
