How do i connect my ps3 and computer to be both running at same time?

  • details ....im using a cable modem with 1 ethernet out i connected that out to a 4 portethernet hub ; from here i have 2 wires 1 leading to my pc and one to my ps3; the problem is even when i power cycle everything i can only connect to either the ps3 or the pc but no BOTH whichh is what i want and is the purpose of me buying the 4port hub when i get my ps3 online my pc says under network settings... my pc> unidentified network> no internet when my pc is online my ps3 fails to establish an internet connection based on the internet connectivity test my hub is showing a green light for both the ports that my devices are conected to....how can i fix this so i can have them both running at any given time

  • Answer:

The reason why both the computer and PS3 won't connect at the same time is because the hub is not capable of sharing Internet connection at the same time. A hub will ony allow you to expand your network by having more connections but it will not allow multiple connections to the Internet simultaneously. What you need to get is a router. A router has multiple ports as well as the capability to share the Internet connection to all devices connected to it. Hope that helps.
